Dr. Roberto Hernando is a board-certified psychiatrist with more than 30 years of clinical leadership and psychiatric care experience. He currently serves as Medical Director of the Psychiatric Unit at Jackson South Community Hospital and has held numerous leadership positions throughout South Florida, including Medical Director roles at Southern Winds Hospital and Dade Family Counseling. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Hernando has provided comprehensive psychiatric care across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and community mental health settings, giving him extensive experience managing patients with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Cognitive Impairment, and other complex psychiatric conditions. He is bilingual in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve Miami’s diverse patient population effectively. 

As a clinical research investigator at NewGen Health Group, Dr. Hernando brings access to a large and diverse psychiatric patient population, strong relationships with hospital systems and community providers, and extensive experience evaluating patients with serious mental illness.
