Dr. Carlos Andres Granja is a board-certified nephrologist with more than 20 years of clinical, academic, and research experience dedicated to the diagnosis and management of kidney disease, hypertension, and complex internal medicine conditions. He earned his medical degree from the Universidad Central del Ecuador before completing his Internal Medicine residency and Nephrology fellowship at the Hospital of Saint Raphael/Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Granja currently serves as a Nephrologist at NewGen Health Group and Miami Kidney Group, where he provides comprehensive care for patients with chronic kidney disease, hypertension, dialysis-dependent kidney disease, and other complex renal disorders. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served as Medical Director of multiple hemodialysis units and has maintained active hospital privileges at leading South Florida hospitals, including Jackson South Community Hospital, Baptist Hospital of Miami, South Miami Hospital, West Kendall Baptist Hospital, Homestead Hospital, and Doctors Hospital.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Granja has made significant contributions to medical research. He has participated in numerous nephrology research projects involving chronic kidney disease, dialysis, fluid management, and cardiovascular biomarkers. His work has resulted in multiple peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national scientific meetings, including the American Society of Nephrology.
Dr. Granja is also deeply committed to medical education. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University and previously held a faculty appointment at the Brown University School of Medicine, where he educated Internal Medicine residents and delivered lectures on nephrology, hypertension, electrolyte disorders, and critical care medicine.
