Dr. Armando M. Alegret is a dual board certified physician in Ophthalmology and Internal Medicine, bringing more than two decades of clinical and academic experience to NewGen Health Group. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences Carlos J. Finlay in Camagüey, Cuba, before completing his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Since 2012, Dr. Alegret has practiced as a comprehensive ophthalmologist at Eye Surgeons of Miami, where he specializes in the medical and surgical management of a wide range of eye conditions. His clinical expertise includes cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation, glaucoma and laser procedures, diabetic eye disease, dry eye syndrome, LASIK and PRK vision correction, uveitis, and pterygium surgery.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Alegret has made significant contributions to ophthalmic research. He has authored and co-authored more than 20 peer-reviewed scientific publications and has presented his work at numerous national and international medical conferences. His research has focused on retinal diseases, ocular oncology, retinoblastoma, uveal melanoma, cataract surgery, and innovative ophthalmic treatments, demonstrating his commitment to advancing the field of eye care.

Dr. Alegret is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Medical Association.
