Dr. Leopoldo Ramon Arosemena Benitez is a board-certified gastroenterologist with extensive expertise in gastroenterology, hepatology, liver transplantation, and digestive diseases. With nearly three decades of clinical, academic, and research experience, he has dedicated his career to providing exceptional patient care while advancing innovative therapies through clinical research.
Dr. Arosemena earned his medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL) in Monterrey, Mexico, before completing his Internal Medicine residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami. He went on to complete advanced fellowship training in Transplant Hepatology, Hepatology, and Gastroenterology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he developed specialized expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex gastrointestinal and liver disorders. He is board certified in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and has been licensed to practice medicine in Florida since 2005.
Currently serving as a gastroenterologist at NewGen Health Group and Jackson Memorial Hospital, Dr. Arosemena has also held faculty appointments as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Miami Center for Liver Diseases. Throughout his distinguished career, he has cared for patients with a broad spectrum of gastrointestinal diseases, liver disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, liver transplantation, and advanced digestive conditions. He also served as Medical Director of the Liver Transplant Program at Broward General Medical Center, further demonstrating his leadership in hepatology and transplant medicine.
An accomplished clinical investigator, Dr. Arosemena has participated in numerous Phase II and Phase III clinical trials evaluating novel therapies for chronic hepatitis B and C, cirrhosis, hepatic encephalopathy, liver failure, hepatology, and other gastrointestinal diseases. His experience as both Principal Investigator and Sub-Investigator provides sponsors with confidence in his ability to successfully conduct complex clinical research while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and scientific integrity.
Dr. Arosemena is an active member of several prestigious professional organizations, including the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the European Association for the Study of the Liver. Throughout his career, he has received numerous honors recognizing his excellence in research, academic achievement, and contributions to hepatology and gastroenterology.
